People Route uses your location to find great places near you. It only accesses your location when you make a request — we do not track you at all times. Location Always permission is used in the background to detect when you arrive at a destination so we can prompt you for feedback at the right moment.
To let you make voice requests ("find me tacos near here") and to record optional 8-second audio memos you can attach to your saved locations. Microphone is never accessed without your explicit action.
To let you take photos and attach them to your saved locations. The camera is only opened when you tap the photo button inside a location detail screen or the Add Place flow.
Speech Recognition converts your voice requests to text so the AI can understand what you're looking for. This data is processed by Apple's on-device and server-side recognition system.
No. On first run, People Route asks for needed permissions once. If you already granted a permission, it won't ask again during onboarding. If a permission is still missing, People Route asks again only when you use the feature that needs it.
No. Push notifications are optional. If you deny them, you can still use People Route normally; you just won't get reminder notifications.
Some features require location (finding nearby places, arrival detection). You can still manually add places, browse your saved locations, and use the text-based features without location permission — but destination-finding and geofencing will not work.
Each AI-powered destination request, Surprise Me request, multi-stop trip leg, and Places Chat query counts as one help. Browsing your saved places, editing notes, taking photos, and recording audio memos are always free and never consume helps.

No — helps reset on the first day of each calendar month. They do not accumulate or roll over between months.
Check that Location permission is set to "While Using the App" or "Always" in iOS Settings → People Route → Location. Make sure you are not in Airplane mode or a GPS-blocked area.
Try increasing your Max Travel Distance in Settings. If results still don't appear, check your internet connection — People Route needs to reach Google Places to find candidates. Saved-places browsing works fully offline.
When you tap Take me there, People Route logs that visit in History. It does not automatically add the place to Saved. Use Save for later on the suggestion card (or manual Add Place) to keep places in the Saved tab.
Yes. On the destination card, People Route now shows a When you get there, try this section with activity ideas tailored to the place type, so users have a practical next step.
Yes. People Route supports practical requests (for example: "I need a new house," "I need a lawyer," "I need a doctor") and maps those intents to relevant nearby place types. If a specific named chain is unavailable in your area, People Route falls back to equivalent local options.
People Route separates intent by wording. "I want to play basketball" targets courts/active venues, while "I want to watch a game" targets ticketing or event-oriented venues, and "I want to buy a basketball" targets shopping candidates.
People Route filters for places that are currently open and checks estimated travel time against closing windows before finalizing a suggestion. This is designed to reduce dead-end recommendations so you can still enjoy the activity when you arrive.
Adventure suggestion notifications are sent at most once every 3 days (when enabled). You can set preferred time windows and turn the feature off anytime in Settings.
During onboarding, People Route now shows a short "what this app does" screen with sample requests like "I feel lonely, take me somewhere" and "I am hungry, take me somewhere" so new users can start quickly.
This can happen in areas with limited nearby results. Ask for something new, increase your travel distance, or take a taxi/rideshare to a busier nearby area and ask again there. In the long run, People Route works best in areas with more nearby place variety.
Yes. On the destination confirmation card and saved place detail, you can launch Uber or Lyft with the destination prefilled. You can also copy the address in one tap.
Open People Route → Settings → More → Feedback. This opens the Mail app to abovealltheselove@gmail.com so you can send feedback directly.
If no home location is saved yet, People Route takes you to Settings so you can add one. After you save and select a home location, Take Me Home will route to it directly.
Yes. In Settings → Home Locations, you can save multiple homes, select the active one, and enter either an address or coordinates in lat,lng format.
Yes. Compare supports multiple friend snapshots. You can review shared places, see where only one of you has been, and keep sensitive history entries excluded before sharing if needed.
People Route assigns a local Compare ID (UUID) once during onboarding and pairs it with your display name. Both stay on-device and are preserved in backup/restore, so your compare identity remains stable on a new phone after import.
That happens when Google Maps isn't installed. Siri can route using Apple Maps or Google Maps on the web. If Google Maps is installed, People Route uses it by default.
Geofencing requires "Always" location permission and is limited to 20 active regions by iOS. Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled for People Route in iOS Settings. If geofencing fails, you can always tap "I Arrived" manually on the active trip screen.
If you're in immediate danger, call your country's emergency number right away. If you are in the United States or Canada, you can also call or text 988 for 24/7 support. People Route may surface emergency-support options, but it is not an emergency service.
Make sure your ringer switch is not set to silent, and that the volume is turned up. People Route uses Apple's .playback audio category so the greeting plays even in silent mode — but the volume must be above zero.
Make sure Camera permission is granted. Hold the QR code in good light and ensure the code is fully visible in the viewfinder. People Route reads FollowFollow QR codes of type ff_type: "location" — reminder-only codes without location data will show a friendly message.
People Route stores all data locally on your device and does not sync to iCloud or any server. If you did not create a backup before reinstalling, the data cannot be recovered. We strongly recommend creating a backup regularly via Settings → Backup & Restore → Create Backup and keeping the file somewhere safe (Files, iCloud Drive, email, etc.).
We're a small team and we read every message. Reach out and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
